Anybody still want to talk Yankee baseball?
I know it's been a frustrating year and this team has been tough to watch.
And I know Yankees Universe is tired of "As the A-Rod Turns."
But there is still a season to be salvaged.
Thursday's Hiroki Kuroda gem in Texas, coupled with another Orioles loss in Kansas City, means the Yanks -- at 54-48 -- are a mere 2 1/2 games (two in the loss column) behind the Birds for the second wild card slot.
The O's open up a three-game series vs. the first-place Red Sox Friday night, trying to hold off the white-hot Tampa Bay Rays -- who are in the Bronx this weekend.
And just in time for the Rays series comes old friend Alfonso Soriano, a human B-12 shot for that anemic Yankee offense.
And on Sunday, in what promises to be an emotional ceremony, the Bombers will honor 2009 World Series MVP Hideki Matsui, who will officially retire as a Yankee.
So this could be a feel-good weekend.
Soon enough, Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson will be back. And odds are GM Brian Cashman is going to acquire another stick.
The bottom line? Yogi was right. It ain't over til it's over.
In fact, it's 60 games to the finish line. Time to get rolling.
Baseball season starts Friday night in the Bronx. CC Sabathia vs. Jeremy Hellickson.
