The Royal Sands Home Screen

The Royal Sands Home ScreenReader Albert Shin gave his iPhone an overhaul now that iOS 6 has been jailbroken, using some text icons and a theme based off the Dota 2 video game. Here's how he put it together.

As far as tools and tweaks, you'll need the following, most of which are available in Cydia:

  • Wallpaper:This image of Sand King from Dota 2 (edited from this image)
  • Zeppelin, which changes the carrier logo
  • Iconoclasm, which changes the layout of your home screen icons
  • Winterboard, which lets you customize the home screen's icons
  • iWidgets, which adds widgets to your iOS home screen

We'll leave it to Albert to describe how he put it all together:

After finding what wallpaper to use, I simply cropped the character, resized him, and put him on a nice peach colored background. To make the home screen a little more interesting, I added a small red tab at the bottom indicating that I was indeed at the home screen to add to the picture as well as get rid of some empty space.

Next, I moved onto the statusbar which I had already made transparent. I simply got a darker shade of the peach color, used a Photoshop layer and made the statusbar look as if it was indented into the background. To add some space for apps, I created small text icons using Photoshop for my Internet (Chrome), Music App, and Settings App. Next I created two widgets, one for the time and one for the date, and implemented them onto my home screen using iWidgets. To make the icons fit the lines and dots perfectly, I used Iconoclasm and created a custom layout. After that, I found some very nice and simple looking status bar icons called SlimPly v.3 and the moustache from the Hipster Yolo Swag iPhone Carrier Logos and recolored them to match the color of the outline of the character.

To conclude, I packaged the text icons into a .theme folder for Winterboard, moved the widgets into the correct position and then changed the carrier logo, using Zeppelin, into a mustache, and then applied my custom icon layout using Iconoclasm to the first page of my home screen. The red tab, status bar, and the line with the dots are all part of the wallpaper. Using a per page wallpaper tweak is recommended.

Do you have an awesome, tweaked-into-oblivion home or lock screen of your own that you'd like to share? Go ahead and post it on the #homescreenshowcase forum with a description of how you made it and it may be the next featured home screen.
